Advent Season on Sandpiper in Charleston
For the first time this year there is a Christmas tree with lights on Sandpiper. We are enjoying preparing for a Christmas visit to Carl on St. Thomas, USVI (by airplane). We will be moving the boat to Port Royal, SC near Beaufort, SC this weekend. We will not be able to sail on Thursday since there will be thunderstorms, heavy rain, and big seas as the result of a cold front which our friends in the midwest have sent our way. Enough already. Please don't send us any more bad weather.
On St. Thomas we will get to participate again with Carl in the tradition of all the island's choirs gathering at 5 am on Christmas morning in the town square after a night of caroling at hospitals, nursing homes, restaurants, and family homes. Each choir presents a brief concert and residents of the island provide food for all the people who have gathered. Every style of music including Afro-Caribben, Caribbean, and traditional church music is represented in a warm celebration of community and Christmas morning. Carl will also be appearing in his community theater play, Miracle on 34th Street, as the lawyer who proves the existence of Santa Claus. We are looking forward to seeing him in action.
