Cemetery at Petersburg, Virginia

The cemetery at Petersburg, Virginia includes the graves of 30,000 civil war soldiers. This is the second largest cemetery in Virginia next to Arlington National Cemetery. It adjoins Blanford Chapel, an Anglical congregation during the civil war, and now a museum with 17 Tiffany windows honoring the soldiers of the Confederacy. Civil war history is still an important fact of life in this area where so many of the civil war conflicts took such a heavy toll on families.
