Visit to The Past
Loy and Linda travelled to Dallas, TX last weekend to attend Loy's 50th high school reunion at Woodrow Wilson high school. It was an exciting visit. On Thursday we had dinner with Dr. David McGuire and his wife, Ruth; Jack and Martha Watson; Dalton and Ann Gregory; and Carol Riddlesperger. This was the leadership team at First United Methodist Church in Denton when Loy was on the staff 1966-69. They are still active in leadership and the church in alive and well in service to the community.
We stayed with Dr. Ellwood Jones and his wife Ann in Dallas at their beautiful home overlooking White Rock Lake. They were central to the planning for the 50th reunion and it was a great success. Both Linda and Loy reconnected with more old friends than we could have hoped for and found that people we admired 50 years ago have stood the test of time and are people we value today.
We had lunch at Kuby's in Snyder Plaza and relived our dating days there.
We also visited the school book depository museum and relived the tragedy of the assasination of President John F. Kennedy. We visited the newly developed art district of downtown Dallas and were very impressed. And we visited Northaven United Methodist and Grace United Methodist churches and found that they are alive and well with exciting outreach programs to the community.
All in all a very affirming visit to the past that was prelude to the present.
