The life of CLODS
Home in Geneva, IL for hurricane season we are living the life of CLODS, Cruisers Living On Dirt. For the last year we lost track of which day of the week it was and once in the Florida Keys when we had to write a check we weren't sure what month it was. Back in Geneva we have been forced to return to the use of daily calendars. We had wondered if we would be able get involved in our community again after 5 straight years of extended absence. We have been grateful to have the opportunity to be involved in five weddings of the children of good friends, the annual rummage sale of Fox Valley Presbyterian Church which raises $14,000-$15,000 for Lazarus House, our local homeless shelter. Loy planned the routes for the trucks picking up the large items and helped with cashiering. Linda helped with receiving items and the bake sale. Loy updated a resident phone directory for our homeowners association. We hosted a coffee at our home introducing members of two local groups working with communities in Lithuania. We are now hosting John Kador, a good friend and author who is on a tour promoting his new book, Effective Apology. John does an exceptional job of explaining the complexities and benefits of full apology in personal, corporate, national and international settings. I recommend this book highly to you and assign it to my clients in marriage counseling. So the life of CLODS is a big change of pace, very satisfying and also time limited.
We plan to be back on Sandpiper this winter traveling south to Beaufort, SC and when it warms in the spring, north to Massachusetts and perhaps Maine.
