Carl is crossing the Atlantic on a sailboat
This morning 5/13/09 at 10 am Carl left Key Biscayne, FL as one of the three crew on a 40' DuFour catamaran, "Going". Their plan was to go to or near the Bahamas, stop for reprovisioning on Bumurda, at the Azores, at Portugal and then on to Spain. The captain is our friend from Germany, Gorch, a retired Lufthansa pilot and his friend, Gerhardt, also a retired Lufthansa pilot. The planned crew schedule is four hours on the helm and eight hours off around the clock. Carl has left his job, but retained his apartment on St. Thomas. He says, "Today is the first day of living my dream!"
Please keep Carl and the crew of "Going" in your thoughts and prayers for their safety and a good voyage. They expect to have 22 days of sailing and 8 days of reprovisioning.
