The Best Aspect of Our Sailing Adventure Is the People

We often tell people the best part of our trip is the people we get to see along the way. Our German sailing friends Gorch and Ingred on "Going" are on Jekyll Island. We enjoyed high tea with them at the Jekyll Island Club founded in 1895 by a group of millionaires including J. P. Morgan, Pulitzer, Vanderbilt, and Rockefeller.
David Hormby (Linda's cousin) and his son Thomas Hormby came from Nashville, Tennessee to visit. Thomas has been on break. He is a college student in international studies in Rome, Italy. It was exciting to have a family reunion with them. We'll be seeing David again in Florida in the coming weeks.
In the next few days we hope to see David Nelson from Geneva, Illinois in Daytona Beach, Florida.
We have been talking to sailing families with children on sailboats from Canada who are also on Jekyll Island. Each of the families has a story about how they made their dream happen, the obstacles they have overcome, the challenges they have met, and their plans for the travels ahead. We exchange ideas and tips from our experiences about managing boats and places to travel.
