Warm in Baltimore

Monday morning we left Annapolis and sailed to Baltimore in 4.5 hours. When we entered the harbor in Baltimore we passed the U. S. Naval Hospital ship Comfort under the Francis Scott Key bridge just before we came into sight of Fort McHenry. Our crew member and official Sandpiper webmaster, Jim Newman, returned home to Illinois Monday night. There is a heat wave underway here and we are running the boat's air conditioning in the marina and taking in air conditioned museums and movies. We were very pleased that our boat electrician, Scott Berg, who improved Sandpiper's wiring in Washington, DC did a warranty call to Baltimore and got our charging system working perfectly. We are expecting thunderstorms tonight and cooler weather the rest of the week. Then we will turn our sights southward in the Chesapeake Bay and hope to see friends along the way before puttng Sandpiper back on land July through September.
