18th Century Riding Chair

George Washington received his first riding chair when he was 18 years old. We had not been aware of these conveyances. They are reported to have been i common use in the 1700's and to have done well in getting around with one horse on rough roads. It looks like a rocking chair bottom and back attached to a sulky.
