Sunset at South River
The threatening weather did bring a wonderful sunset on South River in the anchorage on the night of 6/12. We settled down for a quiet night under we heard the machine gun fire in the dark and then the low fly by by the helicopters of the Cherry Point marine air station nearby. On the morning of the 13th we pulled up anchor and started north again on the Neuse River. It was blowing 25 knots from the northeast with 5 foot waves on the nose. At best we could only make 2.5 knots progress so we returned to the anchorage and spent the day changing fluids and filters. Linda also baked a loaf of wonderful bread and worked on her magazine article, "Waiting for Weather."
