New Tea Kettle Creek Anchorage, Georgia
It Friday morning. We anchored last night in a pristine creek surrounded by marsh grasses and alive with ducks and birds. It had been a challenging day. At "Hell's gate" we ran hard aground about two hours before low tide. The captain of a house boat, "Waterfront Property" went through ahead of us and when we saw our difficulty he returned and towed us off. Georgia is known for having shallow water in the ICW, but the beauty of the surroundings make it worthwhile. There was a beautiful sunset and a near full moon in Tea Kettle Creek. The anchor held well. Linda made tacos and we had hot showers on board and we split a Yingling beer. We had peach turnovers for dessert. It can't get any better than this. Loy got up at 1:30 am to check on the anchor and in the dark heard splashing around the boat. After listening for a while he recognized the sound of dolphins breathing. He decided the dolphins were looking after us so he slept well the rest of the night. When the sun came up Linda was working in the cockpit and saw a pod of 5 dolphins at play and pronounced it a "magic moment."
