Going aground and getting off

From our anchorage in South Edisto River we had a day of travel through swamp rivers and cut channels that have lots of shallow areas. Low tide was at 8:30 AM so we waited until 10 AM and the rising tide to raise anchor. The tide here is 7 feet. Despite our best efforts we ran aground on a sandy shoal in the same spot we hit in June 05. We were able to back off and get afloat again. We were laughing today and agreed that we couldn't do this trip unless we liked each other a lot

The sun was out and it was warm enough in the cockpit enclosure to travel in shirt sleeves. We tied up at Port Royal Marina at Beaufort, SC and renewed friendships with Dona, dockmaster, and Tom, owner whom we met last summer going North. We will get mail and resupply before starting south again.

Here’s the ICW trivia question of the day: “When you are navigating on the ICW what do you call a crab pot marker with "wangs"?' ” E-mail the answer to: Lwill425@aol.com The answer and the name of the first person to respond correctly will be in our next posting.

Hi L & L: I lost your web site when my Mac laptop went down. Got a new one after 5 repairs - first time problem in 20 yrs of using a new Mac. I found your site via the Geneva Rotary Club.
Sent Christmas letter to you house address. Warm here in LaGrange Park, 40˚and a little sun this afternoon. I made my 611 cardiac rehab today. Health good.
I guess you are on coast of South Carolina by today's post. Love to the both of you. Later, RLH
