ICW Trivia Question
A few days ago we posted the ICW trivia question of the day: “When you are navigating on the ICW what do you call a crab pot marker with "wangs"?' Clearly we have been at sea too long and what strikes us as funny is only puzzling to our friends. We received no answers to the question. Let me see if I can explain. Crab traps are not supposed to be placed in the shipping lanes. However they are often placed just outside the channel markers. Each crab trap has a color coded float marking the crab pot below it. If the float drifts out into the channel and you hit it you may end up with the line tangled in your propeller and a nasty diving job on your hands. So hour after hour we watch for these crab pots and call out "crab pot on port or starboard" when we see one. As the day wears on and we get tired sometimes one of the identified crab pots sprouts wings and flies away as we approach. Do you remember the old joke with the punch line "Yes M R Ducks! See M Wangs." So the answer to the question of the day "What do you call a crab pot marker with "wangs?" is a sea gull or a bird.
