A Real Sailing Day at Dog River Marina
Since the water pump is off the front of the engine and some rust is exposed, Loy painted the engine Ford engine red. First he washed it yesterday with simple green. Then he put phosphoric acid on all the parts that had rust. Linda helped me put plastic all over the boat today to protect against overspray. We let the engine dry overnight and sprayed painted two coats today. This was our first time for either one of us to paint an engine. So of course it is an expert job. (Ha) The air is pretty thick down below so we are going shopping and let it dry today. Fortunately the air is clear (about 50 degrees F ) today and we can leave it open and let it dry below.
Last night we went to the Mobile Yacht Club and heard the Dog River Boys play bluegrass for three hours. They are terrific musicians and we even did some dancing.
Today we will do some last minute shopping and start packing. We'll get a ride to New Orleans on Monday morning and catch a plane out on Wednesday to go to St. Thomas to see Carl for Christmas. Meanwhile the new water heater has arrived at the boat yard and we hope that Peugot is preparing the fresh water pump in France for shipment right after Christmas.
Linda and I send you and your family our warmest Christmas greetings.
