Vern and Ruth Vanderzee in Miami

In Illinois Loy had the pleasure of practicing instrument flying with pastor Vern Vanderzee and on our first year out we visited them at their home in Miami. Monday night we had a wonderful Italian dinner with them and had the kind of conversation about real life issues that only long term friends can have. Vern is struggling with some newly developed health issues and needs our prayers and support as he finds his way through this. Ruth continues to write and publish extraordinary books for 5th and 6th grade children that present important stories from our history in a way that is gripping for both children and adults. Ruth and Vern are traveling the US doing book tours, speaking engagements and church fund raising.

Vern noted that our blog seems to be heavily weighted toward meals we are having with friends. He is right that the greatest pleasure of this cruising life is reconnecting with friends and celebrating with them over meals the developments in our lives and theirs.
