Some Progress in Preparations for Cruising

Today we finally are having some success in our preparation to resume cruising South. Loy had a sliver of glass removed from a finger that had been causing problems for a month. Our , Honda generator is repaired and functioning again. Sea water intake to our head has been restored. Jim DeMartin, our diesel mechanic, has completed the rebuilding of our exhaust system. Tomorrow we will do a sea trial to see if the engine is cooling properly.

Friends on the sailboats Hope Floats and Phoenix III left our dock today to continue their journeys south. Linda baked chocolate chip cookies to wish them bon voyage. We hope to see them again as we start South. Tom and Jane Bos on motor vessel Lady Jane are in Charleston tonight and plan to be at Port Royal Landing Marina tomorrow for lunch. We initially met Tom on trip down the Tom Bigbee Waterway in Mississippi on the way south to Mobile, AL. If all goes well we might be able to get underway again as soon as Saturday.

Rotarian, Tom Wilson, owner of Port Royal Landing Marina has taken Loy as his guest to Sea Island Rotary Club in Beaufort the last two weeks. Loy presented the club with the flag of the Geneva Rotary. On Friday he and Loy and Linda will visit another Rotary Club in Beaufort and present another flag of the Geneva Rotary club.

These have not been easy days as we struggle to get all our systems functioning again, and our spirits hit bottom a few days ago, but we are rebounding now and looking forward to the adventures that are ahead. It is really good to hear from you that you have checked in on our blog and are cheering us on. Our e mail address is Lwill425@aol.com . The strength of friendships keeps us going. We look forward to sharing good news of new adventures with you soon.
