Getting a Slow Start
Loy and Linda are at Dataw Island Marina, South Carolina near Beaufort, SC. We are having a new rudder built. This means we are keeping up our tradition of spending Thanksgiving in the boat yard - three years in a row. Our computer modem is refusing to work, so we are also trying to solve that problem. The local library is our connection for today. Cruising friends, Bob and Linda Knighton, have come to our rescue by letting us move onto their boat, Syzygy, while they visit family in New York. Cruisers are Great! We also connected with Harry and Barbara Ohler with whom we have sailed some over the past two years. They came into Dataw for a big blow and stayed two days! We rented a car and attended organ concerts at the St. Helena Episcopal Church (a tracker organ) and at Sea Island Presbyterian Church. We are well and will spend Thanksgiving with other boaters at a potluck in Port Royal. Ann Ringland will join us the day after for her third Thanksgiving with the Sandpiper people. We will keep you posted as we continue to solve problems and get back underway! Your E mail is welcome to Lwill425@aol.com.

I was with Loy and Linda for the past few days and they are in good spirits, despite the problem with the rudder. In fact, the rudder was to be delivered today and then the fiberglass process will start.
The weather was beautiful, sunny and in the 70s, the accommodations were nice on the friends' boat and Linda cooked up a storm, as usual. Linda's sister, Nancy in Mass. fell and broke her hip. An operation on Tuesday seems to have gone well. Linda is going up there for a couple of days and will return to Dataw Marina on Tuesday 12/5. Keep her in your thoughts.
