Castillo de San Marcos

Linda at Castillo de San Marcos, built by the Spanish in 1672 in the first European permanent settlement in North America at San Augustine, FL. This area was the site of an indigenous American Indian settlement and was often fought over by the Spanish, French, and British. We have been fascinated by the early history of this city and the later development of the city as a tourist destination for the wealthy by Henry Flagler; Standard Oil, Railroad and Hotel entrepreneur.
